Who would’ve thought there would be Russian ballerinas, ballet companies & dance houses in Thailand

Anurak Ngamta, Principal, Bangkok City Ballet (centre)

The Wonderful World of Dance is currently in Thailand as part of our tour through South East Asia and Australia, visiting ballet companies, interviewing ballerinas and dancers.

Our first stop is Thailand and we’ve taken a break on the beautiful island of Koh Samui. We are staying in the stunning Villa M – a 5 bedroom divine 3 storey villa on the beachfront overlooking the island of Koh Pha Ngan. Villa M comes with a private beachfront pool and a rooftop jazuzzi. The all white villa is beautifully furnished with antique and traditional Thai furniture and artwork that creates a serene and relaxing vibe. I’ve spent 2 weeks here mesmerised by the sea view, the swaying palm trees and gorgeous sunsets.

Villa M has been the perfect setting to prepare for my upcoming visit to the Bangkok City Ballet, where I’ll be watching their company class and interviewing their ballet dancers. I will also be interviewing a Russian ballet dancer who left freezing Moscow and moved to hot Koh Samui and set up a dance event company of 12 Russian ballet dancers and also established a popular  ballet school and dance house on the island.

I’m also working on our next dance project, which will be launched in the New Year! I’m very excited and feel privileged to be working and relaxing at the stunning Villa M. If you come to Koh Samui, you must stay here!
