Smuin Contemporary American Ballet’s Artistic Director Celia Fushille marks 10 years leading the company by honouring its founder

Celia Fushille, Artistic Director of Smuin Contemporary American Ballet is this year celebrating 10 years at the helm of the company that has become one of the most successful contemporary ballet companies in the US. 

Celia shares her own journey from dancing with the San Francisco Ballet where she met and worked with Michael Smuin and joining him to found his own company that was to become her home as a principal dancer and her future as artistic director.

Listen to Celia talk about her transition from dancer to director following Michael Smuin’s untimely death and her vision for the future of the company that she continues to nurture while honouring the company’s founder.
