Exiled Hope – new dance film from ballerina & choreographer Irina Lerman

Ballerina and choreographer Irina Lerman created her new dance film Exiled Hope in response to the covid pandemic.

Currently a lead soloist with Atlantic Ballet of Canada, Irina is originally from Russia where she graduated from the Vaganova Ballet Academy, before working for seven years at the Mariinsky Ballet with renowned ballet coach Irina Chistyakova (coach to Ulyana Lopatkina).

While forging an international dance and acting career, Irina obtained a masters degree in choreography, won a silver medal at the International Ballet Competition in Riga, and has made several independent productions and productions at the Mariinsky Theatre. 

In Exiled Hope, Irina choreographs and dances to the sound track of Max Richter, she shares her inspiration for her latest work:

“The situation in which we all found ourselves served me as a personal challenge, a test for me as a choreographer, to overcome and find a way to continue working in the art form, to create art for people and bring it to people.”
